Illegal Chicken Coop Catches Fire in Brooklyn Park
Several chickens in Brooklyn Park died after a chicken coop went up in flames. It happened on the 8000 block of Zane Avenue around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday. The chicken coop was behind the residence.
The fire caused damage to the electrical and cable lines but it was brought under control quickly. No one was injured.
Keeping chickens is not allowed in Brooklyn Park. This fall, the city council voted down a proposal that would have allowed homeowners to keep up to four chickens in their back yard.
