Icy Conditions not Favorable for Motorists
Freezing rain Sunday night caused some very icy and dangerous conditions Monday.
One Robbinsdale man says he’s lucky to be alive.
“I just slipped last night,” said Jason Jackson. “The roads were real slippery and I tried to hit my brakes and just couldn’t stop.”
Jackson was driving into the parking lot of his Robbinsdale apartment complex. There was a slight hill and his car wouldn’t stop. Jackson says he drove into a snowbank hoping it would slow the car down, but it didn’t work. However, a few small trees did stopped the vehicle. His car dangled off the side of a hill until a tow truck could come. Jackson says he had to be careful getting out of the car.
“It all happened so fast. I’m just so glad that I got out safe,” he said. “I had some neighbors come help me as well, so I’m grateful for them as well”.
The crash happened near Drew avenue, not too far from North Memorial Specialty Clinics. The vehicles below the hill were moved just in case Jackson’s car rolled down the hill.
