Hindu Society Plans Maple Grove Expansion
A place of worship in Maple Grove is slated for a significant expansion.
The Hindu Society of Minnesota is planning a 17,140 square-foot expansion.
If it’s approved by the city council, the new space would focus on education and culture.
It includes a 500-person multi-purpose gathering space. It also has 10 classrooms, a library and an art gallery.
The classrooms would be used for religious teaching, but not as a regular Monday-Friday school space.
According to representative from the organization, worship will remain in the temple.
The Maple Grove Planning Commission recommended the project for approval on Tuesday, May 28.
The city council is expected to vote on the plans at an upcoming meeting.
The Hindu Society of Minnesota has been located in Maple Grove since breaking ground on its temple building in 2003.
