Highway 252 Plan Calls for Six Lanes, No Stoplights
The 252 reconstruction project has been in the works for years. Monday night, the Brooklyn Park City Council got an update from state officials on plans for the problematic stretch of highway.
In the latest plan, the road will be converted to a six-lane freeway. One lane in each direction would be a MnPASS lane. New 252 bridges at 85th, Brookdale and 66th in Brooklyn Center accompanied by new interchanges would eliminate stoplights. Pedestrian bridges will give walking access across the freeway at 70th, 73rd, and 81st. Bus stops would be removed from the freeway. Construction could start in 2023.
