Heritage Christian Standout Student Eyes Surgeon Career
Heritage Christian Standout Student Emily Tostenson already knows what she wants to do for her career path. And she’s well on her way.
It’s no surprise that her favorite subjects are the sciences, specifically, biology, because she is interested in becoming a surgeon.
“I’ve taken regular biology and next year I plan to take bioethics and anatomy and physiology, which will be really interesting, and I’ll learn about different controversial issues in bioethics,” said Tostenson.
Tostenson has one week of school left at Heritage before wrapping up her junior year. Heritage science teacher Jackie Zachary has taught Emily different science courses since seventh grade. She’s watched Emily mature and seen her interest in science grow.
“I think she’ll do great. She has a great science mind,” said Zachary. “She’s very determined.”
Heritage Christian Standout Student Has One Busy Schedule
Besides her love of the sciences, Tostenson is very involved in sports, participating in basketball, golf and soccer. She also finds time to volunteer and has a job as a caregiver. Despite her workload, Tostenson still maintains a 4.034 grade point average.
Looking ahead, Tostenson says she has a few colleges in mind but doesn’t have one picked out right now. She’s just looking forward to summer and then enjoying her senior year.
