Hennepin County Sheriff will use Vitals App
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is the latest law enforcement agency to use a smartphone app that will help them better interact with people with disabilities. The Vitals First Responder App provides important information about registered people with mental health or cognitive disabilities. Plymouth Police and Three Rivers Park District Police already use the app.
Vitals enrollees, or their family members, voluntarily register with the app. They provide personal information as well as information that might be helpful when interacting with the person. For example, the family might give information about how to best approach a person or what might scare or distract the person. Family members can even record video messages that a first responder can play for the person.
Vitals is providing services free of charge to people living with various conditions and disabilities. To sign up, text “vitals” to 797979, open the link and fill out the form. Registration can also be completed on the website.
