Hennepin County Offers Free Vaccination Clinics for Children
With school nearly back in session for most students, Hennepin County is offering free walk-in vaccine clinics for anyone age 18 and younger.
The clinic will offer vaccines to protect kids from measles, mumps, pertussis and diphtheria. There is currently a measles outbreak in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Ifelayo Ojo with Hennepin Healthcare in Brooklyn Park said this is a great opportunity for kids who may have fallen behind on routine vaccinations. This clinic can get them up-to-date before fall activities.
Ojo is a big advocate for preventative care alongside healthy living practices.
“Approaching life from, let’s do more things that would maintain our health, along with utilizing the medical knowledge that we have that has extended life expectancy more than double what it was in the 1800s,” Ojo said. “People are now living to 100 regularly.”
Ojo credits much of that to modern medicine, and encourages families to come in.
A number of them are happening at schools near the CCX Media coverage area, including one in Plymouth on Aug. 27, and one in Hopkins on Thursday, Aug. 28.
