Golden Valley Police Launch Program to Reduce Crime
Golden Valley police are launching a program called “9PM Routine.”
The social media tool is a nationwide program that started in 2017. Golden Valley police say it’s an effective tool for reducing crime.
The program is meant to educate residents about best safety practices like removing valuables from cars, locking cars, turning on outside lights and more. The department will push out nightly safety routine messages on social media.
Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green says the program’s goal is to reduce preventable crimes.
“Often times people forget that they leave their purses, you know, ladies leave their purses in the car, guys may leave golf clubs, whatever it may be. So, this is to say, go back out and double-check at 9 p.m.,” Green said.
The police department is also creating a new website to better connect with residents.
