Golden Valley Police Department Swears In Five New Officers
Five new police officers have bolstered the ranks of the Golden Valley Police Department.
Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green swore in officers David Yang, Mark Bohen, Jacob Welch, Stacy Lakotas and John Adams on Wednesday.
“Four will be on the patrol division side and one will be in our investigation division side,” Green told CCX News. “And so, you know, we’re coming a long way.”

The department has struggled with staffing in recent years. At one point, the department was down to only eight sworn officers.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s office has covered the department’s day shift.
“Without the help of Hennepin County Sheriff’s office it would be a struggle, but they definitely have helped us through this process,” Green said. “And we’re continuing on. This five that we’re going to be swearing in, we’re definitely going to be swearing in more as we go in to 2024.”
Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt was a guest speaker at the swearing in ceremony.
