Golden Valley Names Two Police Chief Finalists
Golden Valley has named two candidates for its next police chief.
Christopher Chrisostomidis, a police captain with the Savage Police Department, and Victor McDowell Jr., deputy chief of police with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department, are the two candidates.
Savage is located in the southwest Twin Cities metro, while the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority is west of Cleveland, Ohio.
City officials hosted a public forum with the candidates on March 11. That forum is available for streaming.
According to a press release, city officials hope to pick a finalist “soon after the March 11 community engagement forum.”

The new chief would succeed former Chief Virgil Green, who resigned last October following lengthy investigations into his conduct.
According to public documents, Green was accused of interfering with an internal affairs investigation. He was also accused of violating city policy for releasing unredacted body camera footage to television news media outlets during an investigation.
In an interview with CCX, Green pushed back on the allegations.
Assistant chiefs Alice White and Rudy Perez have led the department since Green’s departure.
