Golden Valley Man Embraces Finnish Heritage Through Mobile Sauna Business
Roger Siljander has built a business based on his family’s Finnish roots.
“I know enough Finnish to get in trouble. When I travel, I can get around,” said Siljander, who lives in Golden Valley.
As a third-generation Finlander, saunas have always been a part of his life. Saunas are widely accepted in Finland for health and relaxation with estimates as high as 90 percent of the population using them.
“I don’t remember not being around a sauna and building saunas. I remember helping my brother-in-law when I was 6 build a sauna in his house,” said Siljander.

Mobile Sauna Business
Siljander is now bringing the benefits of saunas to others through his mobile sauna business.
“I see it as a growing opportunity. We’ve been busy enough where I’m actually surprised at how much interest there is in it,” said Siljander.
The Golden Valley entrepreneur rents out two saunas on wheels through his company Minnesota Mobile Sauna.
“Our most common rental term is two days, but the longest has been eight days,” he said.
His clients include yoga studios and chiropractic offices, as well as couples and families with adult children.
“It’s a great winter break, so it’s a staycation,” said Siljander. “Instead of going to Florida, you can rent a sauna.”
His company has also been used for a bachelorette party and family reunions.
“The market is pretty broad,” said Siljander.
Siljander understands the wide appeal of saunas and hopes things are just heating up for his business.
“It kind of warms you to the bone,” smiled Siljander.
To rent a mobile sauna for a day, it costs $275 plus delivery and tax, though the daily rate drops for longer rentals. Firewood is included.
