Golden Valley Approves Zoning Change to Limit Gun Sales
The city of Golden Valley is taking steps to restrict future gun sales. To do that, the Golden Valley City Council approved new zoning regulations.
By a 4-1 vote Tuesday, the city approved restricting the location of firearms businesses to just industrial areas. Current zoning allowed them in commercial areas.
It’s important to note, no gun shop exists in Golden Valley. There also has been no indication of one trying to move there.
According to city officials, the change takes a proactive approach. It would move potential firearms sales farther away from greater concentrations of people, similar to where sexually-oriented businesses are relegated.
Golden Valley City Council member Steve Schmidgall was no the lone no vote. He believes the city shouldn’t involve itself in the gun debate.
