Give with Chandra Photography Gives to Others
A Brooklyn Park resident is making sure everyone gets a chance at holiday family photos no matter their circumstances.
Chandra Hawkins captured free photos Saturday at the Brooklyn Park Library. Hawkins also snaps school pictures and spring photos for people who can’t afford it.
“Some people don’t even have photos to share with family members,” said Hawkins, who started the nonprofit Give with Chandra Photography. “It’s just something to make them feel part of their world and special.”
Tyrsa Scott’s family said they have big plans for their new holiday pictures.
“It gives us an opportunity to actually have a family photo, hang it in the house, we could send it to relatives out of town and just have memories like ‘hey it’s very cool we got to do this,'” Scott said.
Beside taking photos, Hawkins donates hygiene products for shelters and gives coffee mug gifts to moms.
“I love to give for the people who are homeless because I was homeless when I was younger for about a year or two with my mom and we went on shelters and slept on trains,” Hawkins explained.
Hawkins snapped photos of more than a dozen families during Saturday’s shoot.
