From Theater to Nursing, Providence Academy Student Shines
Providence Academy Sidney Borland is humble and hardworking. She excels in academics as well as extracurricular activities. She also has a passion for helping others.
In the classroom, Borland has a passion for science, especially advanced biology.
“Because it has to do with anatomy, and that is something I love is figuring out the complexities of the human body and how all the systems work together,” explained Borland.
The National Honor Society member plans to use those skills in the medical field. Last year, she enrolled in community college, passed her exams and has since become a certified nursing assistant.
“I realize the doctors go in, and they diagnosed the patient, but the nurses are really the hands that get to help them,” said Borland.
Shining on Stage Too
Borland is also making a name for herself in theater. Borland was the lead in several Providence Academy productions. She’s now playing the lead role in “Cinderella.”
“I look forward to getting to play that playful character. A lot of the time, I’m put in really serious roles,” she said.
The senior hasn’t decided whether to pursue nursing or the theater, but she plans to better herself and the world around her whatever path she chooses.
Borland has been accepted to New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. She has also got into several highly selective nursing programs. The standout student hopes to decide soon.
