Fly Vintage & Vinyl Opens in Robbinsdale
A new Robbinsdale store has customers stepping back in time. Fly Vintage & Vinyl opened its doors on Black Friday. The store is right across the street from the new Hy-Vee store. Owners Betsy and Dan Ruppert-Kan are still putting in merchandise.
“We mostly specialize in 80s new wave and then 60, 70s and 80s classic rock,” said Dan Ruppert-Kan
For two and a half years, the Ruppert-Kans sold their items inside the Finds on Broadway store, but they eventually outgrew the space.
“We only had room for about 1,700 records. And once we moved here we were able to double our record capacity,” explained Dan. “Everything in this room has been ultrasonically cleaned and individually bagged.”
Fly Vintage & Vinyl Has Nostalgic Feel
While Dan is passionate about vinyl, his wife, Betsy, loves vintage home decor.
“It’s just kind of a fun museum,” she said.
Retro furniture from the 70s will remind you of the Brady Bunch.
“Something we hear all the time, ‘oh, this reminds me of my grandma’s house,’ or ‘this is what I grew up with.'” said Betsy.
There is also a room full of vintage holiday decorations. A seven-foot aluminum pom pom Christmas tree is sure to remind you of holidays past.
While the store is officially open, Fly Vintage & Vinyl is planning a grand opening celebration in January.
