New Fire Chief nominated in Brooklyn Park
The City of Brooklyn Park is looking outside its fire department to find the next fire chief.
Brooklyn Park’s city manager has nominated Elk River Fire Chief T. John Cunningham to become the next chief in Brooklyn Park.
Cunningham has been Elk River’s fire chief since 2009. He also currently serves as the President of the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association.
“Chief Cunningham’s leadership, innovation and partnership strengths stood out as key attributes for selecting him as the next leader of the Brooklyn Park Fire Department,” said Jay Stroebel, Brooklyn Park City Manager.
Cunningham said he is looking forward to serving the city.
“The Brooklyn Park Fire Department is rich in tradition with a strong foundation of core values,” Cunningham said in a news release. “It will be an absolute honor and privilege to lead the men and women of this department into the future. Brooklyn Park is an incredibly vibrant, diverse, and strong city that is passionate about providing its residents with bountiful opportunities in a safe and compassionate community.”
The city council will have the final say. They are scheduled to vote on May 14th.
