Feedback Sought on Bike Trail Connecting Golden Valley and St. Louis Park
Three Rivers Park District leaders and Golden Valley city officials encourage those who use bicycle and walking trails in the west metro to weigh in on plans for a new system of trails that would link Crystal on the north with Bloomington to the south.
The years-long planning process for the CP Rail Regional Trail includes a public feedback period this summer for Segment C, which links the Luce Line Regional Trail in Golden Valley with the Cedar Lake Regional Trail in St. Louis Park.
“This is a regional trail,” said Stephen Shurson, a landscape architect with the park district. “Think of it more as a highway.”
In addition to online feedback options, there will be public open houses on Wednesday, July 26, at 5:30 p.m. at Dakota Park in St. Louis Park and on Monday, July 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Brookview Park in Golden Valley.
Shurson said these are all opportunities for those who use the system of trails to let officials know how they want to best use the paths.
“Do they want to be able to bike or walk to shopping, to church, to a library? What are some of the destinations they want to get to via trails?” he said.
Once the feedback comes together for the segment, city leaders can get a look at the proposals in the fall. A final draft of a long-range plan document for the proposed CP Rail Regional Trail is expected sometime in 2024.
