Ex-Volleyball Coach Admits To Sexually Assaulting Minors
A former Maple Grove High School volleyball coach has admitted to sexual misconduct with more than a dozen minors.
Dorian Barrs, 32, pleaded guilty to a litany of sex crimes in federal court.
According to the plea agreement, Barrs admitted to 18 instances of sexual misconduct with underage girls.
Barrs was an assistant volleyball coach at Maple Grove High School from fall 2020 to fall 2023. He also coached other local teams.
Court records revealed that he met many of his victims while coaching volleyball teams. Most of his victims were between 15 and 17 years old.
“The defendant admits that from in and around October 2014, through in and around March 2024, he used Snapchat accounts, text messaging and other internet-based social media and communications applications to engage female minor victims,” the plea read. “Further, the defendant admits that he attempted to and did knowingly persuade, induce, entice and coerce multiple minor victims to produce child pornography and engage in sexual activity.”
The maximum prison sentence for the crimes is 60 years, while the minimum is 15 years.
As part of the plea agreement, the United States Attorney’s Office has agreed to not recommend a sentence above 35 years, while Barrs will not ask for a sentence lower than 20 years.
Barrs has been booked into the Sherburrne County Jail ahead of his sentencing.
