Evans-Becker Elected Chair of Robbinsdale School Board
A familiar face will lead the embattled Robbinsdale Area School Board into 2025.
The board has elected Greta Evans-Becker as its new chair at its first meeting of the year.
Evans-Becker — who was re-elected to the board in fall 2024 — served as chair in 2023. However, she was ousted from the role by her colleagues.
Later in 2024, she was the only board member to emerge unscathed from an investigation into the board’s conduct.
During the investigation, attorneys hired by the district called the board “dysfunctional,” but said Evans-Becker was the only member that didn’t contribute to the dysfunction.
The decision comes as struggles with interpersonal relationships have continued for the board.
A board member was recently censured for a second time.
Meanwhile, the district is grappling with a more than $20 million budget shortfall.
During the meeting, new Board Member Aviva Hillenbrand was sworn in to the board, along with Evans Becker and re-elected Board Member Helen Bassett.
