Elm Creek Park Reserve Has Earliest Ski Trail Opening Ever
Elm Creek Park Reserve is the place to be if you are looking for some outdoor ski fun. Artificial snow jetted into the air, as facility crews worked around the clock to get the trails ready for cross country skiing.
This is the earliest opening ever for the trails. And from the looks of things, there are a lot of excited people, eager to enjoy the sooner-than-expected ski season.
“People really get excited about kicking off the season. They wait all year, to be able to get out and cross country ski, and because of our great maintenance crew, and our ability to manufacture snow, we’re sort of the only game in town, so to speak,” said Tom Knisely with the Three Rivers Park District. “You can see all the pinned up demand by how busy so early and in the middle of the week.”
At the Elm Creek Winter Recreation area, there are almost 18 kilometers of cross-country ski trails available.
Folks do not need to have their own gear. You can rent skis at the park.
