Eastman Nature Center Provides Respite from Nearby Development
As Maple Grove and Dayton continue to develop, the Eastman Nature Center remains a place for families to connect with the outdoors. The center is operated by Three Rivers Park District.
“As the Twin Cities grows we’re getting rid of more and more natural spaces,” a visitor named Alicia Bedell said. “So this needs to be here for people to remember this is kind of where we came from.”
Eastman Nature Center is a Teaching resource
Bedell and Emily Lange from New Hope both home school their kids and make trips to Eastman part of their curriculum.
“We bring our home school stuff out and we’ll work inside,” Lange said. “Then come outside and check out the mushrooms and birds and whatever else we’re trying to find that day.”
They both believe Eastman Nature Center is a valuable teaching resource.
“It means a lot,” Lange said. “My kids can have the experience of nature without having to go too far.”
