What images does Mess Hall Art conjure up?
If you’re looking for an activity that’s artsy, creative and a little on the messy side there is a new business that might be what you’re looking for.
Alexandra Starr was looking for something unique for an activity she and her husband could do for his birthday. She had seen some fun looking paint throwing messy kinds of actives on a television program.
“Closest place that does adults paint throwing or where you can get all crazy and messy was in Atlanta. So I thought why don’t I start this,” said Starr.
The idea became reality.
Starr found some empty retail space on Main Street in Hopkins and voila.
“And I made it not just where you go throw paint against the wall. But it’s where you can try various techniques,” said Starr.
In the end you’ll create a one of a kind work that you can bring home with you.
“You can do acrylic pouring, pendulum swings. You can do traditional painting. And you can also do splatter paint,” said Starr.
It’s good for all ages.
“But then we also tailored it to kids and messy activities. Messy games. Adults that just want to have an experience, like having a drink and painting,” said Starr.
Mess Hall Art has their beer and wine license. So, it’s the perfect atmosphere for girls night out wine and painting.
“So we have lots of different art techniques that we can do here. Spin art, splatter paint, pendulum swing, acrylic pour,” said Starr. They have all the contraptions you’ll need, as well as coaches that can work with you to help design your outing before hand.
When you dress to come to your Mess Hall Art class, use common sense.
“We recommend that you come prepared to get messy. We do provide disposable gear. So you get a clear poncho. You get shoe coverings. You can wear gloves, and goggles, and a hair cap. IF you want to,” said Starr.
Let the games begin!
