Demuth Adds Maple Grove Attorney to Her Republican Governor Ticket
A Republican who is running to becoming Minnesota’s next governor has added a Maple Grove man to her prospective ticket.
Rep. Lisa Demuth (R-Cold Springs), who is currently Minnesota’s speaker of the House, has named attorney Ryan Wilson as her candidate for lieutenant governor.
The pair are hoping to unseat Gov. Tim Walz, who is running for a third term.
“I am thrilled to announce that Ryan Wilson will be joining our campaign to help me retire Tim Walz and deliver Minnesotans a state they can be proud of,” Demuth said in a press release. “It’s time for some accountability in the highest level of our government, and Ryan Wilson is the one that will help me deliver that accountability.”
Wilson previously ran for state auditor in 2022, where he lost a tight race with DFLer Julie Blaha.
They join a crowded field of Republican hopefuls, including Rep. Kristin Robbins (R-Maple Grove); Scott Jensen, the 2022 Republican nominee who lost to Walz; Kendall Qualls; and Brad Kohler.
“I am honored that Speaker Demuth has asked me to serve as her running mate in this pivotal election to send Tim Walz into retirement,” said Wilson. “Lisa is a proven fighter and leader. She’s the only candidate in this race who has stood up to Walz, stared him down, and won. Minnesotans are ready to rally behind Speaker Demuth in the months ahead.”
