Deadlocked Crystal Council Decides Council Appointee by Coin Flip
Taji Onesirosan will be appointed to the Crystal city council during its regular meeting on April 18.
He will represent Section 1 in southern Crystal and fill the remainder of the term which expires at the end of 2024. Eleven applicants filed for the seat vacated by Nancy LaRoche when she moved out of district.
Onesirosan’s appointment will come as the result of a coin flip.
After 90 minutes of discussion, the Crystal City Council was evenly split between applicants Terry Baresh and Taji Onesirosan over whom to appoint to represent Section 1. The council decided to flip a coin and the winner was Onesirosan.
Onesirosan is a human resources business partner for Securian Financial. He’s served on Crystal’s Parks and Recreation Commission since 2022.
“The affordability and geographic location are what attracted us,” Onesirosan wrote in his council application, regarding why his family chose Crystal. “Since moving here, we’ve experienced the beauty of this community. From our friendly neighbors, to the regional trails, we have realized Crystal is a place we want to stay.”
