Curbside Cleanup in New Hope, Crystal Runs Through April 11
The Hennepin Recycling Group is hosting its bulky waste curbside cleanup in New Hope and Crystal from April 1-11.
The program divides the cities into 10 zones. Each zone has its own collection day where trucks will pick up bulky furniture, mattresses, box springs and other items set at the curb.
There are limits to how much residents can leave out: just two pieces of furniture, two mattresses or box springs and two appliances. Curbside cleanup also accepts one general junk pile, or a pile about the equivalent of a pickup bed.
Hennepin Recycling Group Administrator Tim Pratt said these limits are new, but the program is still a generous offer. Residents are paying for it through their standard recycling fee.
“We don’t want that stuff piling up in peoples’ homes. It’s difficult to get rid of, so we want to give them the opportunity to get rid of this stuff in in an equitable manner,” Pratt said.
Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG) asks that people set their items out by 7 a.m. on each zone’s designated day. You can view the interactive map on HRG’s website.
Cleanup days for other cities will occur in the coming years. Brooklyn Center’s next cleanup is in spring 2025.
The cleanup does not accept electronics, like TVs or computers. Tires aren’t accepted either.
Those items can be taken to the Brooklyn Park Operations and Maintenance Facility, 8300 Noble Ave. N, on Saturday, April 27, as part of a special material drop-off day.
