Crystal, Robbinsdale and New Hope to Hold Joint Police Forum
Crystal, Robbinsdale and New Hope police are joining forces to have a chat with the communities they serve. It’s the first time all three cities will hold a joint forum on policing.
Officials say the reason they’re having the discussion is to be more transparent with residents. They also want immigrants and diverse communities to understand that police are there to help.
“Our police officers and the chiefs will embed ourselves in the roundtables with our community and just have conversations. So, they can see us and who we are and what we do as law enforcement. We can understand what it is they expect from us,” explained Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering.
This is one of many community-oriented policing efforts that local law enforcement have initiated as a way to build trust in the community.
The community police forum is this Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Crystal Community Center.
