Crystal Police ID Suspect After High-Speed Chase
The Crystal Police Department has identified a suspect in a high-speed chase that occurred in the early morning hours of June 1.
According to Crystal Deputy Police Chief Brian Hubbard, at around 1:30 a.m. officers observed a vehicle speeding northbound on County Road 81. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle fled the scene.
Police gave chase, but ended the pursuit when it reached “excessive speeds” near 85th Avenue North and County Road 81, Hubbard said.
Soon after, the officer located the suspect vehicle crashed in a ditch near the intersection.
In a community alert, Brooklyn Park Police said they arrived to assist Crystal officers with a search for the suspect.
Officers created a perimeter around the scene while searching for suspects with dogs and drones.
No suspects were immediately located.
However, Hubbard said that as of the afternoon of June 1, Crystal Police had identified a suspect in the chase.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
