Crystal Artist Shawn McCann’s New Mural at Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store
When Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store opens along Highway 169 near Jordan this weekend, visitors will see yet another mural by Crystal’s Shawn McCann. This fantasy-themed mural is located outside of the store.
Shawn McCann and his friends have been working on a very special project they can’t wait for you to see. They painted a street mural outside of the store.
“With the two large murals that we’ve painted on the inside here, they’re kind of always known that I’ve done this kind of work. They wanted to try to get something like this here but as of a year ago this piece of concrete didn’t exist. They poured this area just for this street painting,” said Shawn McCann.
Allison Severson assisted Shawn with the painting, which has a Super-Mario theme.
“Probably just battling the weather. Other than that I love being outside. I love creating things. Not much challenges other than the weather I’d say,” said Allison Severson, a fellow artist helping McCann complete the master 3D vision.
McCann Also Paints Mural Inside Store
“The one thing that is in this piece that ties in with the inside is the dragon,” said McCann.
McCann knows a painting is finished when the deadline is approaching. Otherwise, he could just keep painting.
“It’s a tough call sometimes because I could keep working on this for the next month. I’d just keep adding to it and putting the details in. But for something like this you’ve got a deadline. So we need to have it done and then I need to let it dry a few days before we can seal coat it,” said McCann
Even if some aspects of your summer get locked down and canceled, at trip to Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store is sure to put a smile on your face.
