COVID-19 Can’t Erase This Year’s Chalkfest in Maple Grove
Instead of more than 50 artists chalking art live in Maple Grove, artist Shawn McCann says this year will be a little different. Artists have been creating murals and displaying them around the Arbor Lakes area, so people can search for them scavenger-hunt style.
“This summer we’ve been having artists create more murals and so there’s a total of I believe 15 or so of them around Maple Grove and the Arbor Lakes areas,” said McCann, who has been making some of the artwork at his home this summer.
Artist Tonya Youngberg says it’s a way to have a little bit of normalcy.
“I think that lots of people are in a way missing out on life,”said Youngberg. “For me its an important thing to bring people out and show them that we still can carry on with things even during this pandemic. “
You can download a map from the Chalkfest website to go see the chalk art.
