County Road 81 Construction Faces November Deadline
Phase one of the Country Road 81/Bottineau Boulevard construction project is five weeks old and continues through November. It’s a major project in Brooklyn Park with the bulk of the work taking place on County Road 81 and key intersections.
When finished there will be brand new lanes, as well as curb and gutter improvements. Currently the road is closed from 71st Avenue to Brooklyn Boulevard and drivers are being detoured through the area.
“Our construction season ends around Thanksgiving,” said Colin Cox, a transportation spokesperson for Hennepin County. “We want to get this roadway reopened to traffic here. The plan is to come back next spring, once everything thaws and we can get back out here, and start working on two more phases over the next year”
When completed, the intersection of County Road 81 and West Broadway will be safer for bikers and pedestrians.
