Cooper High School Marching Band To Entertain with Concert Fundraiser
For fans of live music and pop hits, a local high school marching band’s concert might be the event for you this weekend.
Robbinsdale Cooper High School marching band is holding its annual concert and fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 4.
“Our indoor concert is really cool,” said Addie Grimes, a drum major. “Our band marches and we move during the music still.”
The band will play a variety of songs, including a Queen medley with movement adapted from the band’s halftime show. The drum majors say overall, the concert is a lot of fun.
“Each section does their own music. We got to listen to it yesterday, and it was really good!” said Elias Contreras Tapia, another drum major.
The concert is also a fundraiser. Tickets cost $5 for students. Early tickets are $12 for adults who purchase ahead of time, and $15 at the door or on the day-of. Kids under age 5 are free.
Band Director Markus Hahn said local businesses also donate items to be auctioned off. Proceeds from admission and the silent auction help the band purchase new instruments and also fund trips for students in need of scholarships.
Hahn said the community is welcome to come and sing along.
“You know, these kids have worked hard. They put on a good production, and if we want the professional arts to continue, we need to support the arts at younger levels,” Hahn said.
