Cooper Class of 2018 Parting Thoughts
This week, we’re sharing words of inspiration from the class of 2018 from local high schools. Wednesday we heard from the Cooper Class of 2018. At Cooper High School’s commencement address, we learned the importance of family, as in the Hawk family.
Cooper Class of 2018 Student Council President Sarah Larson
We are truly a family. We fight like one, but we love even harder. We knew that from day one it didn’t matter what you look like, what religion you practice, what sexual orientation you are. It didn’t matter where you came from or how much money your family has. We believe when we walk through those front doors, we became a family, and that was always a great day to be a Hawk.”
Robbinsdale Area Schools Superintendent Carlton Jenkins
It takes a village to raise a child is an old African proverb, which illustrates nobody, nobody, crosses the finish line alone.”
Teacher Ned Nelson
When I was your age, I would never imagine myself as a teacher. I didn’t like school. As many of know from my endless stories in class, I graduated high school and headed off to college to become the next great radio DJ. Because they always told me I had a face for radio.”
Nelson says he did some soul searching and found his passion through a teaching career. He now tells his students to “be true to yourself,” and “remember, that you are you.”
