Cold Weather Taking a Toll on Pet Adoptions
The February cold and snow is affecting the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley negatively. Since the bitter cold set in AHS has seen a noticeable decline in foot traffic and dog adoptions.
“Our average length of stay for a dog ranges from about 10 days to 2 weeks,” says Zach Nugent with the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. “We are seeing some of those dogs here even longer than that. The sooner we can get them new homes the happier they are going to be.”
In hopes of giving dogs a new home, AHS is offering a special dog adoption discount through Monday, February 18th. The discount will be applied to dogs who are medium to large breeds and are at least a year old.
Currently the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley has around 40 dogs available for adoption. For more information about the Humane Society click here.
