Coats for Kids Kicks Off 35th Year
Coats for Kids Hopes for Over 10,000 Donations
We tend to celebrate milestone anniversaries on the zeros and fives. Pilgrim Dry Cleaners checks both of those boxes this year. First, it’s celebrating the 35th anniversary of its “Coats for Kids” drive.
The campaign has given away more than 422,000 coats over the last 35 years. This year the goal is more than 10,000 coats.
“It’s really exciting,” said Laura Dizon, marketing coordinator for Pilgrim Dry Cleaning. “We always say 10,000, but I think our community needs us a little bit more this year.”
You can drop off coats at any of the 26 Pilgrim Dry Cleaners locations as well as any Davanni’s Pizza locations. Pilgrim has been doing this for 35 years, but what is the other milestone?
80th Anniversary of Pilgrim Dry Cleaners
Pilgrim Dry Cleaners also is celebrating its 80th anniversary as a company.
“It’s amazing to say they’ve been in business that long. They have survived many ups and downs including this pandemic. We have over 200 employees, 26 locations, and we’re doing okay,” said Dizon.
Pilgrim takes the coats, cleans them, then distributes them to charities that they partner with.
“We really want people to know that we can take kids coats or adults coats. Coats for Kids can take accessories, like snow pants and boots. We really just want to keep those families warm this winter,” said Dizon.
Just look for the clearly marked bins inside the front doors of any Pilgrim Dry Cleaning and Davanni’s location to drop off coats and winter accessories. The drive is on now through Oct. 10.
