Co-owner of Crystal Bakery Charged with Filming Teen in Bathroom
The co-owner of a Crystal cafe has been charged with a sex crime.
Yeimi Frutos-Mejia, 42, has been charged after he allegedly filmed an 18-year-old woman using the bathroom without her consent.
In an interview last year, he told CCX News that he’s co-owner of Bella’s Shoppe Bakery and Coffee, located at 3549 Douglas Dr. N.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim’s mother contacted Crystal police to report that her daughter had found a phone recording in the bathroom of cafe.
The victim found photos of herself naked in the bathroom on the phone, which she believed belonged to Frutos-Mejia.

Yeimi Frutos-Mejia, 42, has been charged after he allegedly filmed an 18-year-old woman using the bathroom without her consent.
Police arrived at the shop and questioned Frutos-Mejia, who initially denied knowledge of the incident.
However, he later admitted that he recorded the victim in the bathroom “because he wanted to tr and make pornographic content that he had seen online,” according to the criminal complaint. “He said that he deleted the photos off of the phone because he suspected the victim had found it. [He] stated that he only watched the videos once, but had been recording the victim for a ‘couple weeks.'”
Frutos-Mejia was arrested and booked in the Hennepin County Jail.
He’s been released from custody on $2,000 bail.
Prosecutors have charged him with interfering with privacy—uses device for recording intimate parts image, a gross misdemeanor.
The maximum sentence if found guilty of the charge is 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
