Weekend Showcase: “Beauty and the Beast”
Champlin Park continues its tradition of spring musicals with a tale as old as time. The play is Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast.”
Cecily Gaspar makes the most of a strong singing voice as she plays Belle in the lead role.
“Because with Disney it’s always a super magical experience,” Gaspar said. “I think that all the people coming to see this play will also have the happiness that they get with any Disney show.”
Spencer LaMott does a fine job in the flamboyant role of Lumiere.
“When you see us having fun on the stage its acting, but you know, it’s in a sense, at the same time, it’s real you know?” said LaMostt. “We’re genuinely having fun up there and all the people we’re interacting with, we’re really good friends and everyone, its a really fun community.”
Finally the roll of The Beast presents its own challenges.
Conor Daly who plays the Beast said, “I connect with the Beast on some ways, not physical of course, but you know he just sometimes feels lonely. I think all of us sometimes feel that way in life at one point or another.”
“Beauty and The Beast” is onstage at Champlin Park High School this weekend and next. Showtimes are 7:30 with a 2:30 matinee this Sunday.
