Census Training Begins in Maple Grove
We might only be a few months into 2019, but people in Maple Grove are already looking ahead to the 2020 census. Volunteers underwent “Complete Count Committee” training Thursday. The committee’s mission is to make sure everyone gets counted – even people that might be challenging to find.
The training covers way to reach out to people who might otherwise be passed over by the census.
“So that they can create awareness,” says Jim Accurso of the Census Bureau. “The census is coming. The census is safe. It’s to their benefit to participate in the census.”
Getting an accurate census count is important for a number of reasons. One reason is that population determines how many congressional representatives a state has.
The Census is also hiring census takers in our area. For information, check the 2020 Census website.
