CEAP Prepares for Massive School Supply Distribution
With the start of the new school year just a couple of weeks away, CEAP in Brooklyn Center is gearing up to distribute school supplies to children in need.
“We have been partnering with United Way for decades and we’re giving out hundreds and hundreds of backpacks,” said Steve Jaffee, CEAP Director of Operations and Programs. “We’ve partnered with the City of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center the past week. We did a health fair where we distributed over 400 backpacks this past Saturday. We’ll be partnering with Brooklyn Park this week as we start to distribute the rest of the backpacks.”
Last year CEAP provided more than 2,600 backpacks with school supplies to children in the community. This year they are planning to hand out more than that. The Supplies for Success program at CEAP is funded by community business partners and individual donors.
Ongoing work in the community.
CEAP traditionally holds events throughout the year that benefit the children in the community, like cookouts and face painting at Farm Fresh Fest. They provide toys and holiday items for Christmas. Thoughout the year, they provide “birthday bags” to parents that include party decor and favors plus a cake or cupcake.
