Burglar Smashes Sweet Taste of Italy’s Door
A family-owned restaurant in Brooklyn Park is picking up the pieces after a burglar smashed in their front door.
Ring security camera footage from Sweet Taste of Italy — located at 9576 Noble Pkwy. N. in Brooklyn Park — shows a burglar break through the door with a baseball bat.
The break-in occurred around 3 a.m. on Thursday, July 18.
Owner Jim Stone said there’s about $1,000 in damage to the front door. He doesn’t expect to make an insurance claim on the damage.
“We’ve been spending the last few hours sweeping and vacuuming up this mess,” Stone said.
The burglar also broke into the restaurant’s food trucks.
However, the only money that was stolen was fake cash in a dummy safe.
“This is going to be an out-of-pocket expense, which is unfortunate, but yeah, like I said, he didn’t take much which is great, and at least it was over night,” Stone said. “Nobody was working, so nobody got hurt … they didn’t get away with much. Luckily we’ve got people that know where to hide our money overnight.”
Stone hopes the community will continue to support his business as they repair the damage.
“We’ve got a good community here, I think that’s guaranteed,” Stone said. “We appreciate everybody that comes in and helps us.”
