Brooklyn Park’s Sports Dome is Ready to Go
Brooklyn Park’s sports dome is up and ready for the winter sports season.
“It’s a week long process that wraps up with the inflation of the dome and the installation of the lights and netting and then, away we go for the winter season,” said Brad Tullberg, parks and facilities manager.
This will be the third winter to use the dome at Park Center. The two turf fields were installed in 2019 and the dome was inflated later that year. The facility operates as a collaboration between the city and the Osseo school district.
Besides the combination of city and Osseo school district staff that set up the dome, football boosters from Park Center high school also help.
“It’s a very labor intensive process,” said Tullberg, who estimates 50 people put the dome together. “What better way to do that than use high school football programs in the area and then pay them and their booster clubs for doing the work.”
Tullberg says the dome is rented out to soccer, softball, and flag football programs.
