Brooklyn Park’s Honored 2 Help Seeks School Supply Donations
It is almost time to begin back to school shopping. One local group wants to help ease those costs for area families.
For its fourth annual Back 2 School BBQ, the group Honored 2 Help is seeking backpack and school supply donations. Founder Clint “Scooter” Draughn said donations help thousands of local kids.
Backpack donations are especially needed — but anything helps.
“The need has grown, and our attendance has grown,” he said. “Our supplies need to grow with it to support everyone there. We usually run out, but we try our best while supplies last.”
There are drop boxes located throughout Brooklyn Park. One is at Edinburgh Golf Course, and another is at the Community Activity Center. The third is at Brooklyn Park City Hall, and a fourth is located at Trendsetters Boutique on Brooklyn Boulevard.
If you donate at Trendsetters, the business owner will match your donation. People can also send financial donations online.
Draughn asks that you bring your donations to any location by Sunday, Aug. 11. That way, Honored 2 Help will have time to prepare donations for local families on Saturday, Aug. 17.
At the drive, each student will receive a backpack filled with school necessities. Anyone can attend on Aug. 17, but Draughn does ask that you register at Honored 2 Help’s website.
