Brooklyn Park Votes to Reduce Speed Limit on 93rd Avenue
Brooklyn Park City Council members voted this past week to reduce the speed limit on 93rd Avenue between Zane and Regent Avenues. It will go from 50 to 40 mph. The new speed limit signs will go up in about two weeks.
Thirty neighbors signed a petition in November calling on the city to improve the safety of the half-mile stretch. The city also plans to add a sidewalk. There’s no timeline yet on when construction could begin.
Brooklyn Park City Council member Lisa Jacobson said that the city should have taken action prior to building new development in that area.
The project is estimated to cost about $3.2 million.
