Brooklyn Park to Remodel City Hall
Brooklyn Park is getting ready for a big remodel project at city hall. The building was constructed in 1991. Officials say not much has been done to it since. That’s all going to change as construction on a $5 million renovation is slated to begin next month.
The current layout of multiple counters for different departments will be simplified to just one in the lobby to eliminate confusion. An addition to the east wing will house DMV services with a larger waiting area. And they’ll have extra space for workers because a computerized filing system is replacing upwards of 50 large filing cabinets. Workers say the remodel will help city staff better serve the public.
Construction will last about a year, during which some services will be relocated to the city’s Noble Avenue maintenance facility and the police station next door.
