Brooklyn Park Police See Recent Increase of Vehicle Thefts
Smashed car windows, removed catalytic converters and missing items. Brooklyn Park Police say this is what they found at the scene of several car thefts in commercial neighborhoods.
Four vehicle thefts were reported on March 12th and 13th around the 8500 to 8800 block of Wyoming Ave. Deputy Chief Mark Bruley says one video shows a man with a hoodie removing a catalytic converter from under a vehicle.
Bruley says four more thefts happened Monday, March 23 around 8:30 p.m. at 9300 Winnetka Ave N.
“Witness saw three males, all wearing ski masks, checking car doors. She asked them what they were doing and they fled in a dark SUV,” says Bruley.
Officers say victims are mostly employees that are parked in the parking lots of businesses.
Law enforcement encourages drivers to park in well-lit areas, lock-up vehicles and don’t leave anything valuable inside. Authorities add that you should keep an extra eye on your business parking lot and call 911 immediately if you see suspicious activity.
