Brooklyn Park Health Fair Aims to Combat Disparities
Brooklyn Park residents looking for medical resources will have a one-stop shop for all of their needs this weekend.
The city is hosting its first Community Health Resource Fair from noon to 4 p.m. at North Hennepin Community College on Saturday, Nov. 23.
It’s part of the city’s efforts to reduce health disparities through the “Health on the Go” initiative that kicked off during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think if you look across the diversity, whether it’s African American, or African heritage, or southeast Asian, or white, everyone has their different needs they’re struggling with,” said Mayor Hollies Winston.
The fair will offer more than 25 vendors, as well food and clothing giveaways.
Speakers at the will address topics such as dental health.
“You can’t guarantee or you can’t buy good health,” said Marcellus Davis, racial equity, diversity and inclusion manager for Brooklyn Park.” So we’re trying to provide opportunities to educate our community members on what good health looks like.”
The fair is free to visit.
