Brooklyn Park Daycare Destroyed by Overnight Fire
A Brooklyn Park daycare center is a total loss after it went up in flames Thursday morning around 2 a.m.
The fire destroyed KinderCare Learning Center on 7964 Xerxes Avenue North.
Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke showing from the roof. The flames eventually spread throughout the building. Fire officials said it took about 2 hours to bring the fire under control.
The daycare is in a residential area, however fire crews were able to contain the flames to only the daycare building.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
“With the COVID-19 crisis and school closures, many daycare facilities and schools are staying open to help take care of children of first responders and healthcare professionals. This is very unfortunate for those individuals who relied on this care,” said Camille Hepola, Fire Department PIO/City Communications.
Daycare centers are one of few buildings still open for kids following school closings due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
