Brooklyn Park Church Raises $20,000 for Back-to-School Supplies
It’s a challenging time for many families due to rising grocery prices and other essentials. That’s why a Brooklyn Park church is trying to help families pay for school supplies.
Living Word Christian Center held a backpack drive for Crest View Elementary students in the Osseo School District.
Officials at Living Word say they hope to ease some of the burdens of the rising costs of school supplies. They raised money through donations and bought more than 300 backpacks and other school supplies that will be delivered to Crest View students later this week.
“Crest View was just one of those of schools that was just really behind financially, and a lot of the kids who go there they don’t have all the funds they need for the things they need for school, so we reached out,” explained Denise McMurray, executive pastor assistant at Living Word.
Living Word Christian Center has been helping schools in various ways since 1996. The church started the backpack drive a decade ago.
