Brooklyn Park Chef Starts Must Be Ruff, Offers Healthy Treats for Dogs
A Brooklyn Park man combined his love of dogs and healthy eating at the Brooklyn Park Farmers Market this summer. Reggie Carter is CEO and founder of Must Be Ruff, a company that bakes fresh, healthy dog treats.
You can find beautifully hand-decorated dog dougnuts, biscuits and cupcakes every Wednesday this summer at his market stand.
Carter grew his new dog treat company with his wife. Their focus is on local, homemade dog treats that are affordable.
“It looks fancy, it looks sweet, but each ingredient is hand-selected for health benefits,” Carter said.
The different dog treats are made with fresh ingredients like homegrown honey, cinnamon and bananas and require refrigeration to keep.
Carter’s original goal was to keep the family’s dog healthy but eventually wanted all dogs to experience the same kind of benefits. The baking comes naturally to Carter who grew up in the South around a kitchen-loving family. His family now even joins in on the fun.
While expanding the family business is a future goal, Carter’s current focus is where his home is.
“We love all dogs but Brooklyn Park and surrounding cities is where our main focus is first,” he said.
