Brooklyn Center’s Loaves and Fishes Serves Food Drive-Through Style
Brooklyn United Methodist Church, in Brooklyn Center, is continuing to assist those in need, despite the COVID-19 outbreak.
Each week, the Loaves and Fishes serves lunch, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from noon-1 p.m., at the Brooklyn Center location. Typically, guests would go inside and enjoy a sit-down meal, but with the COVID-19 outbreak, they are getting their meals through a drive-through service.

“They will receive to-go containers of the same great meal, in a safe container they can take home and eat, ” explained Executive Director Cathy Maes.
She says the need for services is increasing because many people are getting laid off from their jobs due to the coronavirus outbreak.
“From some of our sites where we’re serving 70 every night, we’re up to over 250,” said Maes. “It’s staggering, every day we have to re-calibrate and try to figure out how much food do we need to bring on site.”
Loaves and Fishes operates on donations, and they would appreciate the public’s help.
“Right now, we have a $20,000 match, so it’s a great time to give,” Maes said.
