Brooklyn Center’s Bizzy Coffee is Amazon Best Seller
Bizzy Coffee in Brooklyn Center specializes in ground coffee for cold brewing and a pre-brewed, ready-to-drink version. The ground coffee is a best seller on Amazon and will be expanding sales in bricks and mortar stores around the U.S.
“We are the No. 1 best seller on Amazon for our ground coffee,” said Bizzy Coffee co-founder Alex French. “People that want to make home brew themselves. We’ve actually held that spot for 25 months consecutively.”
French says a quality grinder can greatly improve the quality of a batch of cold brew for the home consumer. Bizzy Coffee showed CCX News how to make cold-brew coffee from home.
“Press the grounds to the bottom,” said Andrew Healy, Bizzy Coffee’s other co-founder. “Pour over ice and then enjoy your cup of cold brew. You can put this in the fridge and use it a day or two later as well.”
Healy recommended brewing at room temperature rather than in the fridge for a more consistent taste.
The two cofounders have been best friends since middle school.
“This is certainly where we did expect to be,” French said. “Maybe it took a little bit longer, but we certainly expected a national brand.”
Bizzy Coffee Looking to Expand
Meanwhile, Bizzy Coffee’s footprint continues to grow. The liquid product is available in most Upper Midwest supermarkets in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois.
This week the cold brew will be available in stores in Northern California and next month the desert Southwest. Bizzy Coffee has 19 employees and the company expects to grow.
“Our goal is to be the No. 1 market share in cold brew coffee in the country and hopefully at some point in the world,” French said. “That would be our objective.”
The Bizzy belief is that cold brew is the future of coffee. That the next generation won’t be buying sodas or energy drinks, but will gravitate to coffee.
“Cold coffee, specifically cold brew is smoother,” French said. “It tastes sweet but it’s unsweetened and you can customize it however you want.”
